Tripura, 17 Jan 2026: Serious allegations have surfaced from the Bishalgarh area, where the family of a minor Hindu girl has accused a local youth of concealing his religious identity, attempting to deceive the girl, and later leading a violent attack on her relatives.
According to the complaint, the accused youth has been identified as Mobarak Islam, also known as Rakib, son of Atikul Islam. The family alleged that the youth developed a romantic relationship with the minor girl while allegedly hiding his religious identity. It is claimed that he never disclosed his background and later attempted inappropriate and objectionable acts with the minor.
The situation escalated when the minor’s maternal uncle, after learning about the matter, went along with a few acquaintances to inform local residents and discuss the issue. The family alleged that instead of resolving the matter, the accused along with several associates attacked the uncle and his friends. Their vehicle was also reportedly vandalised during the incident.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured uncle and his friend in a bloodied condition. They were initially taken to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital and later referred to GB Hospital, Agartala, due to the severity of their injuries.
The minor’s father stated that the accused allegedly used the girl’s identity and mobile numbers to circulate images and create confusion, adding to the distress of the family. He further alleged that his daughter was subjected to mental harassment and that attempts were made to involve her in anti-social activities.
A written complaint was lodged at Bishalgarh police station on the same night against the accused. However, the family alleged that no arrests have been made so far, and claimed that police have not conducted a proper investigation, allegedly due to external influence.
The victim’s family has demanded immediate action and justice, stating that the injured uncle remains hospitalised at GB Hospital.
Police officials have not yet issued an official statement regarding the allegations or the status of arrests.
