Tripura, 06 Jan 2026: The search operation for Dharamjit Chakma, a boy who went missing after drowning in the waters of Narikelkunj, has entered its third day with no positive outcome. Despite extensive efforts by the administration and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the body is yet to be recovered.
Highly trained NDRF divers, equipped with modern rescue gear and oxygen cylinders, carried out prolonged underwater search operations. However, all their attempts to trace the missing youth have proved unsuccessful.
With advanced technology failing to yield results, the authorities have now turned to traditional methods. Local fishermen have been roped in, and large fishing nets are being deployed in the water to locate the body. The search is currently being conducted using these indigenous techniques with the help of the fishing community.
It is worth noting that Dharamjit Chakma reportedly went missing last Sunday. NDRF teams began their operation nearly 36 hours after the incident, but even after three days of continuous effort, there has been no breakthrough.
As evening set in on the third day, there was still no trace of the body. The prolonged and unsuccessful rescue operation has raised serious questions about the preparedness and efficiency of the state disaster management machinery. Meanwhile, the wait continues for the family, with each passing hour deepening their anguish.
