Agartala: Jan 05. In one of the biggest anti-narcotics operations of the season, a joint force led by the Officer-in-Charge of Jatrapur Police Station destroyed 2.75 lakh fully grown cannabis plants across 45 plots at two locations under Bishalgarh sub-division today.
Acting on a tip-off, a drive was launched early this morning with the deployment of 155 personnel, including Tripura Police, 69 BSF jawans, and PSR both men and women. The operation was conducted in forest areas of Bhadra Bari Para under Kalikhala ADC Village and the Garam Chhara forest zone, both under Jatrapur police station.
All cannabis plants were cut, gathered, and burnt on the spot. Despite locals gathering from a distance, no resistance was reported due to the heavy security presence, and the force returned safely to the police station.
Confirming the operation, Jatrapur PS OC Sitikanta Bardhan stated that the raid began around 7 AM amid dense fog, making visibility extremely low. He added that this was the largest cannabis destruction drive of the current season carried out in a single day.
The operation included Assistant Commandant Manish Singh, G Group BSF personnel, and PSR units from 11th and 14th battalions.
