Tripura, 04 Jan 2026: Police on Saturday evening arrested a Bangladeshi national along with two Indian citizens from the Puran Bazar area of Khowai in connection with an illegal cross-border movement case.
Acting on specific secret information, police teams intercepted a suspicious individual near Khowai Puran Bazar. During questioning, the person admitted to being a Bangladeshi national. He was identified as Mohammad Firoz Kabir, son of Mohammad Imran Ali, a resident of Tikrampur village under Chapai Nawabganj district in the Rajshahi Division of Bangladesh.
Police officials stated that two teams were deployed following the tip-off one led by SI Monojit Debbarma and the other by SI Modhu Sudan Sarkar. During the operation, investigators found that the Bangladeshi national was repeatedly receiving phone calls from two individuals attempting to facilitate his illegal crossing via the Bachhabari route.

Based on call tracking and further investigation, police arrested two Indian facilitators identified as Shoilen Debbarma and Ajit Debbarma, both residents of Bon Bazar Asharam Bari under the jurisdiction of Champahour Police Station.
A senior police officer confirmed that an FIR will be registered under the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, and a detailed investigation has been initiated to uncover the full network involved in illegal cross-border activities.
Notably, the arrests come a day ahead of a scheduled Hindu conference at Khowai Airport, prompting police to treat the matter with heightened seriousness from a security standpoint. Authorities have assured that all necessary legal steps will be taken in accordance with the law.
