Tripura, 8 sep 2025: Khowai Dasharath Deb Memorial College witnessed yet another theft on Monday, raising serious concerns about campus security.
Around 11 a.m., students arriving for examinations found the lock of the NSS room broken. Inside, chairs and tables lay scattered, and ceiling fans along with other items were missing. They immediately alerted the principal, who informed the police.
This marks the fifth such incident in recent times. In earlier thefts, ceiling fans, computers, projectors, washroom pipelines, and other essential equipment were stolen. Despite repeated cases, police are yet to make a single arrest.
Frustrated students voiced their anger before reporters. “When we entered the room, everything was broken. The fans were gone. This has happened several times before, but nothing has changed,” said one student. Another added, “We arrived around 10:15 a.m. and saw the lock broken. Still, no one has been held accountable.”
The series of thefts has put both the college authorities and police administration under sharp criticism for failing to ensure security on campus.
