Agartala, Sept 8: Outsourcing staff engaged under private agencies in the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) took to the streets on Monday, alleging years of deprivation from regular salaries and benefits.
The agitating workers marched from Town Hall to the TSECL headquarters, where they submitted a deputation to the corporation’s Managing Director, pressing for a five-point charter of demands.
Their demands include abolition of the outsourcing system in compliance with a Supreme Court ruling, regularization of services under TSECL, timely payment of monthly salaries, equal pay for equal work, and extension of statutory benefits such as EPF, ESI, medical leave, along with provision of safety gear.
Addressing the gathering, protest leaders accused the corporation of exploiting workers by keeping them under contractual agencies for years without social security. They cautioned that if the authorities failed to address their grievances, they would be forced to intensify their agitation.
