Tripura, 03 Oct 2026: A 40-year-old motorcycle rider was killed in a head-on collision with a passenger bus near Santirbazar Government Degree College on the national highway on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as Dipankar Talukdar (40), a resident of the Radhagobinda Ashram area of Muhuripur under Santirbazar subdivision. He was reportedly a driver by profession.
According to reports, the accident occurred at around 1:30 PM when a Bhowmik Travels bus, bearing registration number TR 01 B 1392, was travelling from the Sabroom towards Agartala. Near Santirbazar Government Degree College, it collided head-on with a motorcycle bearing registration number TR 08 A 6702, which was travelling from Manubazar towards Muhuripur.
Dipankar sustained serious injuries and was thrown onto the road. Local residents informed the Santirbazar Fire and Emergency Services, whose personnel rushed to the spot and shifted him to the South District Hospital in Santirbazar. However, the attending doctor declared him dead after the examination.
The bus driver and co-driver reportedly fled the scene following the accident. The incident has caused tension in the area, and further investigation is underway.
