Agartala, July 13: Former Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik on Monday appealed to the public not to start fundraising for 11-month-old Ipsita until doctors complete a detailed diagnosis of the child’s condition.
After consultations with neurologists Dr. Abirlal Nath and Dr. Arpan Mitra, along with pediatrician Dr. Sanjit Debbarma, Ipsita was admitted to GB Hospital for further examination and treatment.
Bhoumik said the infant is severely malnourished and weighs only around 2.5 kg at 11 months of age. The child is also suffering from multiple health complications that require detailed medical evaluation.
While one of the medical reports mentioned “SMA Uncertain,” doctors have advised further investigations before reaching any conclusion about the diagnosis.
According to Bhoumik, Ipsita’s treatment has already begun and the necessary arrangements are being made at GB Hospital. She urged people not to collect or donate money based on an unconfirmed diagnosis.
Bhoumik assured that if the child later requires expensive treatment or substantial financial assistance, the public will be informed and a crowdfunding campaign can be initiated at the appropriate time.
