Tripura, June 22: In a proud moment for Tripura’s horticulture sector, progressive farmer Jati Bikram Jamatia from the remote Killa-Kanchan Ganga region of Gomati district has been selected to showcase the state’s renowned Queen Pineapple at the upcoming International Pineapple Festival in New Delhi.
The three-day event, scheduled from June 27 to 29, will bring together farmers, agricultural experts, buyers, and delegates from India and abroad. The festival is expected to provide a valuable platform for promoting Tripura’s premium Queen Pineapple, known for its distinctive sweetness, superior quality, and growing market demand.
Jamatia, who cultivates pineapples on nearly two hectares of land, has emerged as a success story in modern horticulture. Benefiting from support under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) scheme, he has adopted scientific farming practices and modern cultivation techniques, resulting in impressive yields and increased income.
According to horticulture officials, Jamatia earned nearly ₹10 lakh from pineapple cultivation this year, demonstrating the significant economic potential of fruit farming in the state. Officials added that government-backed initiatives are encouraging more farmers to embrace sustainable and technology-driven agricultural practices.
His participation in the international festival is being viewed as a major achievement for Tripura’s fruit cultivation sector. It not only highlights the success of local farmers but also strengthens the reputation of Tripura’s Queen Pineapple on national and international platforms.
As Jati Bikram Jamatia prepares to represent the state in New Delhi, his journey stands as an inspiration for farmers across Tripura and showcases the immense potential of the state’s horticulture industry.
