Security measures along Tripura’s international border in Unakoti district have been intensified following a detailed inspection by District Magistrate Megha Jain and Superintendent of Police Sudhambika R. The senior officials jointly visited several sensitive stretches of the border this week to review the overall security situation and assess the preparedness of agencies deployed in the area.
During the visit, the officials inspected multiple Border Outposts (BOPs) and reviewed the condition of barbed-wire fencing, surveillance arrangements, and other infrastructure in vulnerable locations. The inspection focused on identifying security gaps and strengthening border management mechanisms in areas considered prone to infiltration and smuggling activities.
Officials said the visit was part of the administration’s ongoing efforts to maintain strict vigilance along the international border and ensure that security arrangements remain effective. Police and border security personnel briefed the district administration on patrolling patterns, monitoring systems, and challenges faced in securing remote stretches.
As part of the tour, the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police also interacted with residents living in border villages. Local villagers shared concerns related to infiltration, illegal cross-border movement, and smuggling activities. Residents highlighted the difficulties of living near the border and requested enhanced security presence and improved infrastructure in sensitive pockets.
Police sources confirmed that surveillance has already been strengthened in several vulnerable areas. Additional patrolling teams have been deployed, while suspicious movement is being monitored closely through coordinated efforts between security agencies and the district administration. Officials stressed that preventive measures are being taken to curb illegal activities and maintain peace in border regions.
The administration reiterated that safeguarding border communities remains a top priority. Officials stated that regular inspections and direct engagement with local residents are essential to improving security management and ensuring quick response to emerging threats.
The inspection reflects the state administration’s proactive approach towards border security, combining infrastructure assessment, field-level monitoring, and community participation. Authorities believe that close coordination among security forces, civil administration, and local communities will play a crucial role in maintaining stability and strengthening vigilance along one of Tripura’s most sensitive international border areas.
