Agartala, May 18: In a significant boost to development activities in North Tripura’s Dasda, an Aspirational Block under the Government of India’s Aspirational Blocks Programme, the Empowered Committee of NITI Aayog has approved five major development projects worth Rs 2 crore. The projects aim to strengthen livelihood opportunities, education, sports infrastructure, and child welfare facilities in the region.
The proposals were presented virtually before the committee by North Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran during an official review meeting of the Aspirational Blocks Programme.
One of the key projects approved is the establishment of an “Akanksha Haat” at an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh. The rural marketplace is expected to provide Self-Help Group (SHG) women with a dedicated platform to market and sell their products, thereby creating new income-generating opportunities and promoting local entrepreneurship in Dasda Block.
To encourage youth participation in sports and recreational activities, the committee also approved an “Akanksha Indoor Sports Complex” worth Rs 70 lakh. The facility will include modern indoor sports infrastructure aimed at supporting local talent and promoting healthy engagement among young people.
In the area of child welfare and early education, Rs 40 lakh has been sanctioned for the electrification of 200 Anganwadi centres across the block. Officials stated that the project will improve infrastructure and help provide better services for children and mothers attending these centres.
The education sector will also receive a digital push through a Rs 20 lakh initiative to install computers and projectors in five schools. The move is expected to strengthen digital learning infrastructure and improve access to technology-based education for students in rural areas.
Additionally, Rs 30 lakh has been approved for the upgradation of four residential hostels to improve living conditions and basic facilities for students residing there.
Officials said the approved projects were designed to address key developmental gaps in the Aspirational Block. Following the approval, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran expressed gratitude to NITI Aayog and stated that groundwork and implementation of the projects will begin soon.
