Agartala, May 03: Tight security arrangements are in place ahead of the counting of votes for the by-election to the 56-Dharmanagar Assembly constituency, scheduled for May 4.
Tripura Police DIG Rati Ranjan Debnath on Sunday visited Dharmanagar to review security at the counting centre and strongroom set up at PM Shri Government Higher Secondary Girls’ School.
He was accompanied by North District SP Avinash Rai, Additional SP Kamal Debbarma and Additional SDM Himadru Bikash Pal, among other officials. The team inspected the strongroom and overall security arrangements before also visiting Dharmanagar Police Station.
The DIG said prohibitory orders under Section 163 will be imposed around the strongroom. Barricades will be placed within a 100-metre radius, and a three-tier security system will be deployed to ensure smooth counting.
Officials said strict surveillance will be maintained across Dharmanagar town to prevent any untoward incidents.
The administration has expressed full preparedness to conduct the counting process in a free and peaceful manner.
