Dharmanagar, Mar 6: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday held a large “Yuva Shankhnad” rally at BBI Ground in Dharmanagar, where Chief Minister Manik Saha and other party leaders highlighted the state government’s development agenda while sharply attacking opposition parties.
The rally, organised by the North Tripura district committee of Bharatiya Janata Party’s youth wing ‘Yuva Morcha, witnessed the participation of a large number of youth workers from six mandals of the district. Political observers believe the event was aimed at demonstrating the party’s organisational strength ahead of the upcoming by-election in the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Manik Saha described the demise of former Dharmanagar MLA Biswa Bandhu Sen as a major loss for the party. He said that since the change of government in 2018, the state has witnessed significant development and is gradually gaining recognition across the country despite being a small state.
He also alleged that certain groups were trying to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the state through conspiracies, but expressed confidence that the government would continue to work for people across communities.
Speaking at the programme, BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee launched a strong attack on opposition parties, claiming that they lacked constructive agendas and were engaged in internal conflicts. He further alleged that some political leaders had misused public funds for personal gains.
Other leaders who addressed the rally included Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, MLAs Jadab Lal Debnath and Binay Bhushan Das, along with several party leaders from the district.
Speakers at the rally asserted that the BJP-led government has been focusing on youth empowerment and inclusive development, claiming that the administration is working for all sections of society.
Party leaders also expressed confidence about the party’s prospects in the upcoming elections in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, stating that the BJP would continue to strengthen its presence in the region.
