Tripura, 02 March 2026: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police from Mungiakami Police Station arrested two individuals and seized approximately 10 kilograms of ganja from their possession at Mungiakami Railway Station on Monday morning.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police intensified surveillance at the railway station. According to Officer-in-Charge Sonesh Debbarma, two passengers were detained after their movements appeared suspicious. Upon conducting a thorough search, police recovered around 10 kg of ganja cleverly concealed inside their bags.

The accused have been identified as Madhu Kumar and Santosh Kumar, both residents of Bihar. Preliminary investigation suggests that the contraband was being transported by train with the intention of smuggling it to another state.
The incident created a stir in the area, highlighting ongoing concerns over drug trafficking networks operating through railway routes.
A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police have initiated further investigation to determine whether the accused are part of a larger interstate drug trafficking network and to identify other individuals involved in the operation.
