Tripura, 31 Jan 2026: The Action Taken Report (ATR) relating to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AIIMS, New Delhi and the Government of Tripura was reviewed on January 28. The review meeting was held through video conferencing at the Chief Minister’s War Room in the presence of Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, Director of AIIMS, New Delhi Professor (Dr.) M. Srinivas, and other senior officials.
The Health and Family Welfare Department informed that the ATR on the steps taken under the MoU, which was signed on October 17, 2025 between AIIMS, New Delhi and the Government of Tripura, was presented during the meeting. As per the MoU, several important administrative reforms related to the establishment and strengthening of health education institutions are currently in progress and partially implemented. These include workforce structuring, enhancement of financial powers, and development of IT-enabled systems.
Recruitment of personnel and human resource development are being carried out in accordance with existing government rules through the Health Directorate and the Tripura Public Service Commission. In coordination with AIIMS, initiatives have been launched for faculty development, training, and skill upgradation. To improve health education and academic standards, effective steps have been taken, including the introduction of new departments, skill development courses, amendments to service rules, and training at AIIMS.
In the area of hospital services and infrastructure development, works are underway for strengthening emergency services, expansion of ICU facilities, operationalisation of operation theatres, induction of modern equipment under the PPP model, and improvement of supply chain management. Regarding patient satisfaction and digital initiatives, the ‘Mera Hospital’ app is already in use, and coordination is underway to adopt AIIMS’ ‘Santusht’ app to collect patient feedback and further enhance the quality of services.
It was reiterated that the Health and Family Welfare Department, with the support of AIIMS, New Delhi, remains committed to the overall development of medical education and healthcare services in the state.
Apart from Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, those present at the video conference included Health Secretary Kiran Gitte; Director, Tripura State National Health Mission and Additional Health Secretary, Saju Wahid A.; Director of Health Services, Dr. Debashree Debbarma; Director of Medical Education, Professor (Dr.) H. P. Sharma; Principal of Agartala Government Medical College, Professor (Dr.) Tapan Majumdar; and Medical Superintendent of AGMC & GBP Hospital, Dr. Bidhan Goswami. From AIIMS, New Delhi, Dr. Ramesh Aggarwal, Head of the Department of Pediatrics, also participated in the video conference.
