Tripura, 29 Jan 2026: This morning at around 10:00 AM, a serious road accident occurred in the T.K. Road area of Khowai involving a tipper truck and a tom-tom (e-rickshaw) in a head-on collision.
In the accident, a college student travelling in the tom-tom sustained critical injuries. She was immediately rescued by local residents and taken to Khowai District Hospital. After initial treatment, doctors observed a deterioration in her condition and referred her to Agartala Government Medical College (GB Hospital) for advanced medical care.
The injured student has been identified as Anisha Debbarma, a resident of the Belchhara area. Another injured person has been identified as Manoranjan Debnath.
According to police, the truck driver involved in the accident has been arrested, and further legal proceedings are underway.
The accident caused panic in the locality for some time. Police have initiated a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
