Tripura, 27 Jan 2026: Development means working for the welfare of the people and ensuring their basic rights, said Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha on Monday while inaugurating two development projects and laying the foundation stone of another at the Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital premises.
The Chief Minister inaugurated a 300-unit Blood Centre and a 50-bedded Sabroom Sub-Divisional Integrated AYUSH Hospital. He also virtually laid the foundation stone of the Sabroom Sub-Divisional Fire Service Station at Purba Jalepha. On the occasion, a blood donation camp was organized, where 30 donors voluntarily donated blood.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said blood donation stems from the spirit of helping humanity, adding that there is no alternative to blood. He highlighted that blood is most required during road accidents, surgeries, and Caesarean deliveries for expectant mothers. The Chief Minister said the state’s healthcare services are being strengthened steadily, reducing the tendency of patients to seek treatment outside the state. Blood centres are now being opened not only in district hospitals but also in sub-divisional hospitals.
The Chief Minister highlighted that under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, citizens are entitled to free treatment up to ₹5 lakh, complemented by the state’s Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Tripura, he said, is the only state in the country where all residents are covered under health insurance.
He informed that 1,413 beds have been arranged at Agartala Government Medical College, with plans to add 100 more beds. Telemedicine services have been launched, and hospitals for mothers and children are being developed. The dental college is being expanded, and a state-of-the-art eye hospital will be constructed near ILS Hospital. A Homeopathy College will be built at Renter’s Colony at a cost of ₹75 crore, while an Ayurvedic College will come up at Tepania with the same investment. A Health University is also planned for Agartala.
For attendants of patients, meals are being provided at ₹10, and affordable food facilities will be available through Bharat Mata Canteens. Trauma Care Centres are being set up in district hospitals, and under the Healthy Childhood, Healthy Adolescence Programme, 10 lakh children and adolescents have been brought under its coverage.
Cooperation Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, speaking at the event, said that healthcare services have seen significant improvement across districts, sub-divisions, and rural areas during the current government’s tenure, with advanced treatment now available within the state.
