Tripura, January 27: While Republic Day was being observed across the state with patriotic programmes and solemn respect, a controversial incident came to light at Khowai Police Station. On the same day, the birthday of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) D. Kuddus was reportedly celebrated within the police station परिसर, complete with flex banners and balloons.
There is no dispute that celebrating a birthday is a personal matter. However, a police station is a government office meant exclusively for public service. Organising a personal celebration within such premises raises serious questions about administrative decorum, neutrality, and the work environment.
According to sources, the initiative for the celebration was taken by Khowai Police Station Officer-in-Charge Krishna Dhan Sarkar. Many believe that holding a birthday celebration with decorative arrangements inside a police station amounts to misuse of official space and authority. Conscious citizens and observers have expressed concern, stating that such events go against the principles of administrative transparency and discipline.
Had the celebration been organised at a private venue, the dignity and impartiality of the administration would have remained intact. Now, after the matter has come to public attention, all eyes are on the senior police अधिकारियों to see what steps, if any, will be taken in response to this incident.
