Tripura, 23 Jan 2026: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya Scindia arrived in Tripura on Friday as part of his three-day official visit to Tripura and Assam. During his stay in the state, the Union Minister will lay foundation stones and inaugurate multiple development projects funded by the DoNER Ministry.
Speaking to the media upon arrival, Scindia described Tripura as “my state,” highlighting the deep historical and emotional bond between the Scindia family and the former royal family of Tripura. He recalled that his aunt, Maharani Padmaraje, was married to the former Maharaja of Tripura.
The Union Minister praised Chief Minister Manik Saha for his cooperative, visionary, and forward-looking leadership, stating that he is fortunate to work closely with him for the state’s all-round development.
Scindia announced that development projects worth nearly ₹540 crore have been brought to Tripura under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of holistic development of the Ashta Lakshmi—the eight North Eastern states.
Day-wise itinerary:
Day 1 – Friday: Projects worth around ₹220 crore will be inaugurated and foundation stones laid, including three foundation stones and three inaugurations across sectors such as roads, healthcare, tourism, power, and infrastructure.
Day 2 – Saturday: The Union Minister will visit Dumboor, where he, along with the Chief Minister, will lay the foundation stone of the Mata Sundari Mata Bari Tourism Circuit, an ambitious project estimated at ₹250–270 crore. He is also scheduled to offer darshan at Mata Sundari Temple.
Day 3 – Sunday: Scindia will proceed to Assam to attend official programmes related to DoNER initiatives.
The Union Minister also announced the launch of a pilot agarwood project, often referred to as “liquid gold,” jointly for Tripura and Assam, aimed at creating livelihood opportunities and boosting the regional economy.
Reiterating the Centre’s commitment, Scindia said the initiatives span tourism, agarwood, health, power, and infrastructure, and will play a key role in Tripura’s journey of development and progress.
