Tripura, 13 Jan 2026: Apassenger bus traveling from Agartala to Kailashahar met with a serious accident near Saika Bazar on National Highway-208, On Monday. While negotiating a turn, the bus lost control and plunged into a deep gorge. Around 20 passengers were injured in the incident.
Among the injured, the bus conductor and driver sustained critical injuries. Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services and ambulance teams rushed to the spot and rescued the injured passengers, shifting them to nearby hospitals. The driver was trapped inside the bus for a long time and was later rescued after much effort and taken to the hospital.
Five of the injured were referred to Kulai District Hospital in critical condition.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expressed concern over the accident and posted a message stating:
“I have been informed about the bus accident that occurred at Saika Bazar in Kamalpur. There were a total of 32 passengers on the bus. Among the injured, 11 have been shifted to the local sub-divisional hospital, 5 to Dhalai District Hospital, and 2 to Fatikroy Primary Health Centre. I wish all the injured a speedy recovery. The administration is fully alert and taking all necessary measures to handle the situation.”
