Agartala, Jan 12: To mark Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, Tripura University organised a “Run for Swadeshi” rally on Monday, highlighting the message of supporting local products, empowering youth, and strengthening the nation.

The rally began at 3 pm from Academic Building–11 on the university campus. Vice Chancellor (i/c) Prof. Shyamal Das formally flagged off the run in the presence of faculty members and officials.
Organised as part of the Swadeshi movement, the programme aimed to instil the values of self-reliance, nationalism, and social responsibility among students, in line with the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. Participants were encouraged to adopt Swadeshi practices in their daily lives and contribute actively to nation-building.

A good number of students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and other members of the university community took part in the run, reflecting strong enthusiasm and collective commitment to the cause.
University authorities stated that such initiatives play an important role in motivating youth to combine physical fitness with social and national consciousness, especially on an occasion dedicated to India’s youth icon.
