Dharmanagar, Jan 12: Former Chief Minister and sitting MP Biplab Kumar Deb will inaugurate the 139th Paush Sankranti Mela and Uttarayan Utsav at Pratyek Ray Bara Akhara here, local MLA Yadav Lal Debnath said.
Addressing a press conference on Sunday evening, Debnath said the four-day fair will be held from January 14 to 18, with preparations currently in full swing.
The annual fair is expected to attract visitors from different parts of North Tripura and neighbouring Assam. The fair will feature stalls selling household goods, food items, children’s toys and displays by various government departments.
Agricultural exhibitions and competitions showcasing vegetables such as gourd, pumpkin, brinjal, cabbage, chilli and peas will also be organised, with prizes for top performers. A flower garden exhibition has been added as a new attraction this year.
Cultural programmes featuring artists from different parts of the state will be held daily at the open stage throughout the four-day event.
