Tripura, 11 Jan 2026: In a video message and special interview, Minister Sudhangshu Das strongly criticized Congress leader Birajit Sinha, stating that the Congress party was “born to oppose Hindu Sanatan culture.” He alleged that Birajit Sinha wants such issues to remain unspoken only to protect his vote bank.
The minister expressed deep concern over the continuous attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, claiming that Hindus are being brutally killed every day, their houses are being set on fire, they are being forced to flee their villages, converted forcibly, and Hindu girls are being abducted. He said many such incidents are reported in the media, while countless others remain unknown.
Referring to a shocking incident, he said,
“A 12-year-old Hindu girl in Bangladesh was gang-raped by the house owner and others and then strangled to death. Are we not supposed to protest this?”
He further stated that in the last 15–20 days alone, at least 10 to 12 Hindus have been killed in Bangladesh according to media reports. He mentioned the brutal murder of Dipu Chandra Das and highlighted that atrocities against Hindus are happening on a daily basis.
Sudhangshu Das also condemned the recent incident at Shibultala in Kumarghat-Fatikroy, calling it highly shameful and unacceptable. He said that even religious activities like Sankirtan are being attacked and set on fire.
Turning his criticism towards West Bengal, he alleged that “jihadi elements” are involved in similar violence there as well. He mentioned the murders of Arvind Das and Chandan Das in Murshidabad, stating that such acts prove the presence of extremist forces.
The minister accused Birajit Sinha and the Congress of trying to silence voices that speak against these issues.
“They want us not to talk about Hindu atrocities because it affects their vote bank. That is why they are angry. We do not calculate politics based on vote banks,” he said.
He also reacted to threats of legal action from opposition leaders, saying,
“Let them go to court if they want. That does not scare us. If someone kills Chandan Das or Arvind Das, are we not allowed to call them jihadis? Where is it written that we cannot?”
Sudhangshu Das further alleged that Birajit Sinha and his supporters have always backed fundamentalist and extremist groups. He accused them of encouraging unconstitutional remarks and using local strongmen to intimidate people, particularly Hindus.
Concluding his statement, the minister said,
“We have condemned yesterday’s incident, and we will continue to condemn every act of violence. But we cannot remain silent on the ongoing atrocities against Hindus. They may stay quiet for their vote bank politics, but we will not.”
