Tripura, 10 Jan 2026: Acting on a secret tip-off, a team of plainclothes police formed under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police of Khowai district conducted a special operation. They received information that a person named Ripon Biswas was traveling from Agartala towards Khowai in a passenger bus carrying 90 vials of drugs on Saturday.
Based on the information, the plainclothes police laid in wait at the Paharmura area of Khowai. When the passenger bus reached Paharmura, the police stopped the vehicle and conducted a search. During the search, 90 vials of drugs were recovered from the possession of passenger Ripon Biswas. Along with the drugs, Rs. 200 in cash and one mobile phone were also seized from him.
It is reported that Ripon Biswas is a resident of the Paharmura area. After his detention, he was handed over to Khowai Police Station by the plainclothes police. The police registered a case against him under the NDPS Act, and he will be produced before the Khowai District and Sessions Court tomorrow, sources said.
