Sabroom, Jan 9: The Sabroom Bar Association has announced that it will boycott all case hearings and documentation work at the Sabroom SDM Court from Monday, January 12. The decision follows allegations of misconduct and threats by the Executive Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Abhijit Singh Yadav (IAS), against a practising lawyer.
The incident allegedly took place on January 7 during a hearing under Section 126 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS). Advocate Ratan Nath, vice-president of the Bar Association, alleged that the magistrate abused him and issued threats inside the courtroom.
Ratan Nath has filed a written FIR at Sabroom police station in connection with the incident. He has also submitted written complaints to the district administration and the state chief secretary, demanding a fair and impartial investigation.
Following an emergency meeting held on Friday, the Bar Association decided to suspend all work at the SDM court until an independent inquiry is conducted and appropriate action is taken.
The incident has drawn reactions from members of the legal fraternity across the state, with concerns being raised over administrative conduct and courtroom decorum.
