Agartala: Jan 07. The 11th edition of the Agartala International Expo 2026 is scheduled to open at Children’s Park on January 11 and will run until January 26. Organizers announced that all preparations will be completed by January 9.
Addressing the media, All Tripura Merchant Association’s General Secretary, Sujit Roy, said the expo will begin on January 11 with a grand opening and continue until January 26. He added that expos of this kind are rare in the Northeast and are growing bigger each year. In memory of the late founder and former Association General Secretary, Chanman Saha, all cultural activities will be organized in his honor.
Director Raj Choudhary said, “Last year marked our 10th anniversary, and we received appreciation from the Chief Minister. This year, the Expo will open with a grand celebration, featuring a stage designed with a Lotus Temple theme, giving visitors the sense of standing near the iconic structure. The entrance will showcase a Winter Carnival theme.”
Cultural programs will be held every evening during the Expo.
The event will accommodate approximately 250 stalls, including international participants. Stalls from Iran are returning after four years, while Thailand will have 10–11 stalls showcasing ornaments and jewelry. Dubai perfume stalls will return for the sixth consecutive year, attracting buyers from regions such as Barak Valley. Afghanistan will have 8–10 stalls featuring organic dry fruits. Additionally, the Expo will feature Made-in-India perfumes, as well as handicrafts and furniture from across 20 Indian states, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
Choudhary added, “This year, the quality, decoration, and participation will surpass what we’ve achieved in the past 10 years.”
The press meet was attended by All Tripura Merchant Association leaders, including President Tushar Kanti Chakraborty, General Secretary Sujit Roy, Organisational Secretary Prangopal Saha, Joint Secretary Abhijit Dey, Cultural Secretary Sajib Saha, and Director Raj Choudhary.
