Agartala: Jan 06. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Monday staged a protest rally and demonstration at the India–Bangladesh border, demanding an end to alleged atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh and suspension of trade activities until the situation improved.
The protest was held at the Ragna border, where VHP leaders also submitted a memorandum to senior officials at the Indian Customs ORB LCS office, urging Indians to boycott Bangladeshi products.
The demonstration was organised in protest against the killing of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das and the alleged continued persecution of Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh. The programme, held under the banner of the VHP, remained peaceful throughout.
Addressing the media, rally coordinator Birendra Das said participants first assembled at Dharmanagar BBI Ground and later proceeded in a bike and vehicle rally to the Ragna border, where slogans were raised and demands reiterated.
Through the protest, the VHP demanded exemplary punishment in the Dipu Chandra Das murder case, security for minorities in Bangladesh, and strict measures including suspension of import–export activities with Bangladesh until atrocities stop.
A large number of participants joined the protest, raising slogans such as “Jai Shri Ram,” “Vande Mataram,” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
