Agartala: Jan 06. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has removed Indian sports presenter Ridhima Pathak from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) presentation panel, triggering fresh debate over whether sporting decisions are being influenced by regional tensions.
According to BCB sources informed, Pathak’s name was initially included in the BPL broadcast and presentation team. However, citing “changed circumstances and overall considerations,” the board dropped her from the final list at the last moment. No official reason has been disclosed so far.
The decision comes close to the heels of IPL broadcasts being reportedly halted in Bangladesh, adding fuel to speculation of a broader cooling in India–Bangladesh sports engagement. Cricket analysts believe the move may be linked to prevailing security concerns and diplomatic sensitivities between the two countries.
Ridhima Pathak, a well-known Indian sports anchor, has previously worked in several international cricket events. Her inclusion in the BPL panel had generated interest among viewers before the abrupt reversal.
BCB has maintained silence on whether the decision is temporary or part of a wider policy shift regarding foreign presenters.
