Tripura. 05 Jan 2025: A heart-rending accident occurred yesterday at the Narikel Kunja tourist spot in Gandacherra, where a minor went missing after falling into the water from a boat. Despite several hours having passed since the incident, the child has not yet been traced.
According to local sources, the incident took place shortly before evening when the minor suddenly lost balance and fell into the water while travelling by boat. Allegations have surfaced that no immediate or adequate rescue measures were initiated by the administration after the child fell into the water. This alleged negligence has sparked strong resentment among tourists and local residents present at the spot.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services and officials of the local administration reached the site but later withdrew. It was reported that rescue operations could not continue due to poor visibility and darkness. The search operation is scheduled to resume this morning with the arrival of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team.
The identity of the missing minor is yet to be ascertained. Meanwhile, a tense and sombre atmosphere continues to prevail in the Narikel Kunja area.
