Tripura, January 2, 2026: In view of the prevailing extreme cold weather conditions, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) has announced the closure of all schools under its jurisdiction for a period of 11 days.
Addressing a press meet today, TTAADC Executive Member Rabindra Debbarma informed that all TTAADC-run schools will remain closed from January 3 to January 13, 2026, to ensure the safety and well-being of students amid the severe cold wave.
As per an official memorandum issued by the Office of the Principal Officer (Education), TTAADC, Khumulwng, the decision has been taken with the approval of the Hon’ble Chief Executive Member and the Hon’ble Executive Member (Education), TTAADC.

However, the authorities clarified that practical examinations of Class X and Class XII will remain unchanged and will be conducted as per the existing schedule during the said period.
All Inspectors of Schools under the Education Department, TTAADC, have been directed to expedite and implement the order with immediate effect.
The order has been approved vide U.O. No. 1009/ADC/EM (Edn), dated January 2, 2026.
The decision has brought relief to students and parents as the region continues to experience unusually low temperatures.
