Tripura, 1 Jan 2025: In a gesture of solidarity and support, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) on Thursday provided financial assistance of ₹3,00,000 to the family of Late Anjel Chakma. The cheque was formally handed over at the family’s residence in Machmara by TTAADC Chief Executive Member Purna Chandra Jamatia, as previously announced by the Council.
Sharing the development on social media, the CEM stated that the assistance was provided as per the guidance of TIPRA Motha founder and Royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debbarma. He said the financial support from TTAADC was meant to help the bereaved family in performing the final rites of Anjel Chakma and to stand by them during this period of deep sorrow.

“We met the family of late Anjel Chakma at Machmara and provided a cheque of ₹3 lakh from TTAADC. We stand in solidarity with the family during this time of profound grief,” the CEM wrote.
Earlier, Pradyot Manikya Debbarma had strongly criticised the Uttarakhand government over the reported announcement of a ₹25,000 reward for information related to the killing of Anjel Chakma, terming it an insult to human life. In a sharp message addressed to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, he announced that he would personally offer ₹10 lakh to anyone providing credible information leading to the arrest of those responsible.
The assistance from TTAADC and the strong statements from Indigenous leadership have intensified demands for justice for Anjel Chakma, with calls for a serious, transparent, and impartial investigation into the case.
