Tripura, 13 August 2025: The 79th Independence Day will be celebrated across Tripura on August 15 with a series of programmes. The main state-level celebration will be held at Assam Rifles Maidan, Agartala.
At 9:10 am, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will hoist the national flag and receive the salute, followed by an inspection of the parade. He will present medals to Samar Cadet Corps cadet officers and felicitate officers and staff of the Forest Department. At 9:50 am, the Chief Minister will address the people of the state. PT displays and cultural programmes will be held at the venue from 10:30 am.
Ahead of the main event, the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign will see the national flag hoisted at every home tomorrow. A citywide cleanliness drive is scheduled for the day, along with an open cross-country race — 3 km for women and 5 km for men — starting at 6 am from Umakanta Academy.
The celebrations on August 15 will begin with a morning procession at 5 am, with students from various schools taking part. After sunrise, the national flag will be hoisted at residences and government institutions. At 7 am, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath will hoist the national flag at the Secretariat premises in New Mahakaran.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu will begin his Independence Day schedule today, August 14, by paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue at 8 am, Gandhi Ghat at 8:15 am, and Shaheed Minar at Alberti Ekka Park at 8:35 am.
A cultural programme will be held at Agartala Town Hall at 5 pm today, followed by an ‘At Home’ reception at the new Raj Bhavan at 6 pm.
