Tripura, 04 August 2025: Tripura’s Minister for Power, Agriculture, and Farmers’ Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, along with Executive Member of TTAADC Runiel Debbarma, on Monday visited the home of deceased youth Thaniel Debbarma and assured the grieving family of full support and justice.
The duo also visited the home of another injured youth from the same incident and spoke with their family members.
Minister Nath instructed the West Tripura district police, especially the Superintendent of Police and the Officer-in-Charge of the concerned police station, to take immediate and strict action to apprehend those involved in the fatal attack on Thaniel and his friends.

Sharing details of the incident, the minister said, “I was in Delhi at the time. Thaniel Debbarma, a young boy from the Birmohan area under my Mohanpur constituency who had recently passed his secondary exams, was attacked along with his friends while returning from an outing. He sustained severe injuries and was admitted to GBP Hospital the following day in critical condition, where he sadly passed away.”
Minister Nath expressed deep sorrow over the incident and acknowledged the widespread anger and grief in the local community. “I am deeply saddened by Thaniel’s tragic death. The culprits must face justice,” he said.
He added, “I’ve already given strict instructions to the police to act swiftly. The family wants justice, and so do we. I am hopeful the culprits will be arrested very soon.”
EM Runiel Debbarma also expressed his condolences and assured the family of all necessary support from the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).
