Agartala, July 30: A delegation of Samajpatis traditional community heads from various Indigenous communities of Tripura met Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at his official residence on Tuesday. During the meeting, they raised concerns related to the recognition of tribal customary laws, development of community temples, and other issues affecting their respective communities.

The Chief Minister assured the delegation of the state government’s sincere commitment to the overall development of Indigenous communities. He added that the government is actively considering the demands raised by the tribal elders and will address them in a phased manner. He also emphasized that the welfare and progress of tribal leaders and traditional institutions are very much on the government’s radar.
Referring to the ongoing dispute with Mizoram regarding Betlingshib Hill in Jampui Hills, the Chief Minister said that the issue has already been brought to the attention of the central government. He also mentioned that he has spoken with the Chief Minister of Mizoram on the matter and assured the delegation that he will visit Betlingshib in the near future to assess the situation firsthand.
Elders from the Tripuri, Mog, Murasing, and Reang tribal communities were part of the delegation that met the Chief Minister.
