Tripura, July 16: Fast food stalls in Ambassa market are facing severe business losses due to the unbearable stench and unhygienic conditions caused by an open drain running in front of their shops. These stalls, established collectively under the name “Bonolota” by the Ambassa Municipal Council, were meant to promote organized business for local fast food vendors.
However, the open and uncemented drain in front of the stalls has turned into a breeding ground for flies and insects, transforming the area into a virtual dumping ground. The foul smell and constant presence of flies have driven customers away, with many refusing to eat from the affected shops.
Stall owners complain that customers are no longer visiting due to the unsanitary conditions, resulting in a significant decline in business. Some shops are forced to remain closed for long hours. In interviews, vendors have suggested that the situation could be resolved if the drains in front and behind the stalls were converted into proper concrete drains.
Despite repeated appeals to the Ambassa Municipal Council, no steps have been taken to address the issue. Vendors remain hopeful but frustrated, waiting for authorities to take necessary action to restore cleanliness and customer flow.
