Agartala, July 14, 2025: Reaffirming its commitment to the overall development of the tribal population, the Tripura government is working to strengthen harmony and ensure inclusive growth across the state. As part of the ongoing Janajati Gaurav Varsh, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated a district-level awareness and assistance camp under the Dharti Aba Janbhagidari Abhiyan in Belbari, Jirania on Monday.
The event, held at Gobinda Community Hall, witnessed the Chief Minister distributing financial aid and scheme benefits to self-help groups and individuals. A total assistance of ₹55 lakh was handed over, along with agricultural and livelihood support tools such as power tillers, iceboxes, three-wheelers, paddy wheelers, Ayushman cards, and Scheduled Tribe certificates.

In his address, CM Saha emphasized the government’s aim to make tribal communities self-reliant through infrastructural development and targeted welfare schemes implemented jointly by the state and central governments. He highlighted that under the Dharti Aba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsha Abhiyan, developmental activities are being undertaken in 392 tribal-dominated villages.
The Tribal Welfare Department is currently executing projects worth ₹81.69 crore, which include the construction of 20 new hostels, 2 multipurpose marketing centers, 16 residential schools, and the establishment of 9 Forest Rights Cells. Additionally, ₹14.28 crore has been allocated for the construction of 119 Anganwadi centers, ₹1.12 crore for fishery development in 28 hectares of water bodies in tribal areas, and ₹42.37 crore for electrifying 7,677 families and 512 locations. Twenty-eight mobile service units have already been deployed to ensure last-mile delivery of government schemes.
The Chief Minister also addressed pressing social concerns like substance abuse and child marriage, stating that the government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy on both issues. He called upon all sections of society to join hands in building a drug-free, HIV-free, and child marriage-free Tripura.
Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, present as a guest of honour, said that the camp aims to deliver doorstep access to various government schemes. Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma informed that 21 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have been established post-2018 to support the education of tribal students. He reiterated the government’s resolve to bring real transformation through action-based governance.
The event, organised by the West Tripura District Administration, was attended by several dignitaries including District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Tribal Welfare Department Secretary Shashi Kumar, SP Dr. Kiran Kumar K, Belbari BAC Chairman Raken Debbarma, and noted social worker Bipin Debbarma. The welcome address was delivered by West Tripura Zilla Parishad’s Acting Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil.
A total of 28 departmental stalls were set up at the camp, offering on-the-spot services to hundreds of beneficiaries. Chief Minister and the dignitaries visited each stall to take stock of service delivery.
As part of the camp, the following services were provided:
- 469 Aadhaar services
- 367 Ayushman Bharat card registrations
- 411 caste certificates
- 117 Kisan Credit Cards (KCCs)
- 58 pension scheme registrations
- 185 enrollments under PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana
- 107 under PM Jan Dhan Yojana
- 93 under PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana
- 84 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
- 108 under PM Matru Vandana Yojana
- 266 registrations under PM Vishwakarma Yojana
- 384 new ration card applications received
Additionally, the Health Department conducted sickle cell tests for 654 individuals, and 237 received nutrition and health support under the Poshan Vatika scheme.
This initiative marks another step forward in the state government’s agenda to empower tribal communities and bridge development gaps through focused policy implementation and community engagement.
