Agartala, May 3: Acting on a tip-off, a joint operation was conducted late last night at Agartala Railway Station, resulting in the detention of one Bangladeshi national and two Indian agents. The trio was apprehended while attempting to board a train to another Indian state after entering the country illegally.
The detained Bangladeshi woman has been identified as Mamuda (30), a resident of Shariatpur district in Bangladesh. The two Indian agents accompanying her have been identified as Krishna Debnath (32) from Botatla, under Sabroom Police Station in South Tripura, and Toton Dey (28) from Rajnagar village, also under Sabroom PS.
The operation was jointly carried out by the Government Railway Police (GRP) Agartala, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and intelligence agencies. According to preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they were heading to Hyderabad.
The GRP officers have registered a case at the Agartala GRP Police Station and are conducting multiple rounds of questioning. Sources suggest that more individuals involved in the racket may be arrested in the coming days as further details emerge from the ongoing investigation.
The three detainees are scheduled to be presented before the Hon’ble Court today.
