The Rural Development Minister stated at an African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) event in New Delhi that India will continue to exchange knowledge, technical expertise, and policies through AARDO’s multilateral platform.
SHABD, Delhi Air, February 19: Union Minister for Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stated that the government has launched several revolutionary schemes to make rural citizens’ lives more comfortable. He emphasized that these schemes have provided new momentum to the country’s economy. Speaking at an event organized by the African-Asian Rural Development Organization (AARDO) in New Delhi, Mr. Chouhan said that India will continue to exchange knowledge, technical expertise, and policies through AARDO’s multilateral platform.
He also assured that India will support AARDO in empowering rural communities. During the event, Chouhan highlighted various initiatives, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, and the “Lakhpati Didi” scheme. He noted that India is not only self-sufficient in food grain production but is also assisting other countries. The minister further mentioned that under the National Rural Livelihood Mission, nearly 10 crore women have received financial assistance of over ₹50,000 crore. He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, approximately 1.25 crore women have become “Lakhpati Didis.”
