Tripura 16 Feb, 2025: Tipra Motha Gomati District President and MDC Sadagar Koloi has lodged an FIR against the owner of a Facebook page named News Anusandhan/News Search, accusing it of spreading hate speech and defamatory content.
According to Koloi, the page posted a controversial news item using the Bengali phrase “Pradyot er Batpari”, which he claims fosters hostility and communal tension in the state. The word “Batpar”, he alleges, has been used in a derogatory manner, implying the entire Tiprasa (Scheduled Tribe) community.
MDC Sadagar Koloi emphasized that Tipra Motha founder and Royal scion Pradyot Manikya Debbarma belongs to the Tiprasa community, and such language directly targets Indigenous communities in Tripura. He warned that such statements could fuel communal discord.
The MDC has urged strict legal action under the SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the individuals responsible for the post, including the owner, administrator, and any associates of the Facebook page. He called for immediate intervention to prevent such divisive narratives from spreading further.
