Agartala, Feb 15, 2025: Yesterday, In a coordinated operation involving Agartala GRP, BSF, Agartala RPF, and the Intelligence Division, authorities arrested a Bangladeshi national along with an Indian middleman at Agartala Railway Station yesterday afternoon. The Indian broker is accused of assisting the Bangladeshi national in illegally entering India. During preliminary questioning, both suspects stated that they were headed towards Murshidabad.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Taslima Akhtar (24), from Cumilla, Bangladesh, Arbazan Sheikh (36), from Murshidabad, West Bengal.
A case has been registered at the Agartala GRP station, and the suspects are set to be presented before the court today.
In a separate development, during routine checks at Jogendra Nagar Railway Station, officials discovered two bags containing a total of 21 packets of dry ganja, weighing approximately 19 kg.
After following all legal procedures, the contraband was seized as unclaimed. The Agartala GRP police station has initiated an investigation to determine the ownership of the illegal substance, which is estimated to have a market value of around INR 2 lakh.
