Tripura 7 Feb, 2025: Sports contribute to both physical and mental development. It nurtures talent and keeps young people away from addiction. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury made these remarks as the chief guest at the final match of the South Tripura Super League Football Tournament at BKI Ground in Belonia today.
The event was attended by Deepak Dutta, Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad; MLAs Ashok Mitra, Swapna Majumdar, and Dipankar Sen; Nikhil Chandra Gop, Chairperson of Belonia Municipal Council; Pranab Sarkar, President of Tripura Football Association; Dipayan Chowdhury, Member of Tripura Sports Council; cricketer Manishankar Murasing; and Smita Mal, District Magistrate of South Tripura, among others.
Minister Sushanta Chowdhury further stated that recognizing the significance of sports, the government is prioritizing infrastructure development. Efforts are being made to bring sports talent from rural areas into the mainstream and improve the quality of sports. The BKI Ground in Belonia has been converted into a synthetic field. The state government is committed to the vision of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ and urges collective efforts to build a drug-free Tripura.
In the final match, Rupaichhari Warriors defeated Rishyamukh Star-11 in a tiebreaker by 5-3 to become the champions.
