National Law University to Strengthen Legal Framework in Tripura: CM Manik Saha
Tripura 6 Feb, 2025: A robust legal system is essential for a thriving democracy, and the National Law University, Tripura (NLU Tripura) will play a crucial role in strengthening the state’s legal framework, said Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha. He made these remarks today at the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony for the NLU Tripura campus in Narsingarh.
It is worth mentioning that President Droupadi Murmu laid the foundation stone for the NLU Tripura campus on October 12, 2022.
The Chief Minister emphasized that legal education is not just about learning the law—it also plays a significant role in upholding justice, ethics, and the rule of law in society. He further added that NLU Tripura will serve as a center for legal research and development, addressing contemporary challenges in law and governance.
State Government’s Commitment to NLU Tripura
Describing the university as a historic milestone in the field of legal education in the state, CM Saha reiterated the Tripura government’s unwavering commitment to its development. The government will continue to provide financial, administrative, and policy support to ensure the success of the institution.
He also remarked that the Bhoomi Pujan ceremony is not just the beginning of a building’s construction but the foundation of a future enriched with knowledge, justice, and public service.
Judiciary’s Perspective on NLU Tripura
Speaking at the event, Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, said that NLU Tripura is a matter of pride for the state and will play a significant role in expanding legal education.
Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura, Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the university’s vision and future contributions to legal studies.
