Khowai 27 Dec, 2024: To protect the youth from drug addiction and social degradation and to encourage a healthy lifestyle, the Khowai District Administration has launched a district-wide sports competition named “Khowai Says Yes to Life.” The inaugural match of this initiative took place in South Maharani Para under the Mungiakami RD Block.
Due to the observance of national mourning, the event did not include any formal inaugural ceremonies or cultural programs. However, the presence of high-ranking officials from the district administration added significance to the program.
Speaking on the occasion, Khowai District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran emphasized:
“The goal of this competition is not just sports but also to steer the youth away from drug addiction and social decay. We want our younger generation to focus on a healthy lifestyle and their personal development. Initiatives like this can be a powerful tool in building a strong and conscious society.”
Other dignitaries present at the event included CMO Padmaram Jamatia, Teliamura Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate Apurba Krishna Chakraborty, BAC Chairman Sunil Debbarma, Mungiakami BDO Diptanu Debbarma, Additional Sports Director Kamalendu Shil, and Mungiakami’s IAS officer Ashish Debbarma.
As part of the competition, players underwent preliminary health screenings, including checks for infections and lifestyle-related diseases.
“Khowai Says Yes to Life” is more than just a sports competition; it is an effort to guide the youth toward a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The organizers are optimistic that such initiatives will contribute to building a strong, responsible, and conscious youth community in Khowai District in the future.
