Agartala, December 3: The Tripura Journalists’ Union (TJU) is seeking immediate justice concerning the unsolved murder cases of Sudip Datta Bhowmik and Shantanu Bhowmik, two journalists who were killed in 2017. Though the C.B.I. is involved, there are no developments so far which has left their families and the journalist fraternity hopeless.
There are some journalists like Mr. Pranab Sarkar, Mr. Sourajit Dhata, and Mr. Ranjit Debbarma, who have come to the Aids Press Council of India in New Delhi. The members of the delegation pressed upon the PCI that it should take these cases on its own and speed up efforts in providing justice. The PCI officials assured them that a decision in this regard will be taken shortly.
The readers should note, however, that the TJU has also written to the Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the Tripura Governor and Chief Minister seeking their help to end these cases. According to the union, these kinds of murders at a higher level are an affront to the freedom of the press, and therefore, attention must be focused on ensuring justice to these people.
The TJU is firm in its quest for justice and has indicated that its efforts will not cease until justice is meted out.
