
Mumbai, 9th October 2024 : Ratan Naval Tata, born on December 28, 1937, left an incredible mark on India and the world through his visionary leadership and commitment. He was an enthusiastic businessman with the heart of gold. He was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital on Monday (October 7, 2024) in a critical condition owing to age-related issues, where he breathed his last on Wednesday (October 9, 2024). As the former chairman of Tata Sons, he has transformed the Tata Group into a global business powerhouse, while always staying rooted in his core values of integrity, humility, and social responsibility.
Ratan Tata received numerous awards and prizes throughout his career. In 2008, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, for his exceptional service to the country. Internationally, he was also recognized with honors such as the Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.
Maharashtra government declares one day of mourning on Thursday (October 10, 2024). “ The last rituals of industrialist Ratan Tata will be performed with full state honor. There will be a state funeral as a tribute to legend Ratan Tata. During this period, national flags will be flown at government offices in the state and no cultural or entertainment programs will be held”, CM Eknath Shinde said.
The mortal remains of Mr Ratan N Tata will be taken to NCPA Lawns in South Mumbai from his house in a hearse, decked with white flowers and wrapped with Indian flag, where members of the public can pay their last respect and homage to the departed soul from 10 am to 4 pm. The cremation will take place at the Worli area later on the day.
Tata’s humanity had touched millions of lives, not only in the business empire. His legacy, ethical leadership and social responsibility will be remembered and cherished.
