The West Tripura District Magistrate, Dr. Vishal Kumar, has issued directives to ensure smooth traffic and public movement in Agartala on the occasion of ‘Mayer Gomon-2024’, scheduled for October 14, 2024. In an official notification, several traffic restrictions were outlined to facilitate the immersion of Durga idols.
From 2 PM on October 14, the route from Lions Gate (Ujjayanta Palace) to Dashamighat, via Jackson Gate, Kaman Chowmuhani, Surya Chowmuhani, Post Office Chowmuhani, Paradise Chowmuhani, and Battala, will be reserved for the immersion procession. This restriction will remain in place until the conclusion of the immersion activities.
Key areas such as Nagerjala, Battala, Dashamighat, Joypur, Agantuk Club, and several others will be marked as ‘No-Entry’ zones for general traffic during the immersion hours.
For emergency movements such as patients, air passengers, and rail passengers, alternative routes have been designated, starting from TMC Hapania to IGM, GBP, and ILS Hospitals through specified roads and flyovers. The public has been advised to carry valid air tickets or boarding passes for smooth transit, and vehicles carrying passengers should display the appropriate stickers.
Parking for VIP vehicles will be arranged at the Ujjayanta Palace compound, while designated parking for general vehicles will be available in areas like IGM Chowmuhani, Battala TRTC Complex, and near East Agartala Police Station.
Processions from different zones across Agartala have been assigned specific routes to gather at the designated immersion point. The culmination of the event will see all the idols proceed to Dashamighat through the central route, ensuring a coordinated and smooth immersion.
With these guidelines in place, the administration aims to ensure that ‘Mayer Gomon-2024’ proceeds without any disruption to the public or the city’s infrastructure.
