Tripura 24 December, 2024: Mohanpur witnessed a heartwarming event today as 256 differently-abled individuals received their social welfare pension sanction letters. The distribution ceremony, held at the Municipal Office, was graced by Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath, who emphasized the importance of inclusivity for a truly developed state.
“We believe in a Tripura where everyone thrives,” Minister Nath declared, echoing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” He highlighted the recent Khelo Tripura Para Games, where the spirit of differently-abled athletes shone brightly, inspiring everyone.
The Minister acknowledged the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens, revealing that a staggering 4,08,727 individuals across Tripura currently benefit from social welfare pensions, amounting to a yearly expenditure of ₹789.97 crores. This significant investment underscores the government’s dedication to improving the lives of its most vulnerable citizens.
The event began with a welcome address by Deepak Chandra Sarkar, CDPO of the Mohanpur ICDS Project. Other dignitaries present included Anita Debnath (Chairperson of Mohanpur Municipal Council), Shankar Deb (Vice Chairperson), Rakesh Deb (Chairman of Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti), Deepak Kumar Sinha (Chairman of Bamutia Panchayat Samiti), Ranbir Debbarma (Chairman of Lefunga BAC), and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Subhash Dutta.
This distribution of pension letters marks a significant step towards a more inclusive and equitable Tripura, where every individual, regardless of their abilities, has the opportunity to live a life of dignity and independence.
