Assam 25 December, 2024: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Police seized Yaba tablets worth an estimated ₹45 crore and arrested a Tripura-based smuggler. The operation took place on Tuesday night in the Patharkandi area of Karimganj district under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das.
Acting on a tip-off, the police intercepted a truck bearing registration number NL 01 AD 1696 at Hatikhira under Bazaricherra Police Station limits. During the search, approximately 1.5 lakh Yaba tablets were recovered from the vehicle. The arrested individual, identified as Sushanta Rudrapal, hails from Tripura.
According to police sources, the tablets were being smuggled into Tripura from outside the state. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act, and the accused was presented before the district court in Karimganj on Wednesday morning.
