On Friday evening, the 1434 Tring Festival was inaugurated at Ram Dewan Chowdhury Para in Khowai Tulasikhar by Tripura’s Forest Minister and Asharambari MLA, Animesh Debbarma. The festival, organized by the Asharambari Tring Festival Committee, will span two days.
The event was attended by notable dignitaries, including MLA Ranjit Debbarma, TTAADC Executive Member Ananta Debbarma, Khowai District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, BAC Chairman Bishu Debbarma, and others.
Later, addressing the media, the Forest Minister stated that just as Bengalis celebrate their New Year on Poila Baisakh, December 22 marks the first day of the year for Tiprasas. He explained that the Tring calendar, which was significant during the time of the Maharajas and especially in the 1980s, is a vital part of Tiprasa heritage. After the Tipra Motha assumed power in the ADC, December 22 was declared a public holiday to honor the Tring festival.
The inaugural day saw vibrant performances by indigenous artists, showcasing their unique talents and adding to the festive spirit.
