Agartala 26 November, 2024: As part of the Constitution Day celebrations, a colourful padayatra was organised today at Agartala. The youth affairs and sports department organised the padayatra which began from Umakanta Academy. This year’s theme for the Constitution Day is ‘Hamara Sambidhan, Hamara Swabhiman’. Students and teachers of different schools, colleges, NCC cadets, volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra and Scouts and Guides of the state and students of 26 states in best of their state traditions, and holding the national flag, posters, banner etc.
Taking part in the padayatra, the finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy in honour of the Constitution he said, today is a day of pride for us. Because, on this day the Constitution of our country was adopted. The main aim of celebrating this day is to pay tribute to those who composed the Constitution and those who laid their lives for the freedom of the country and to make people aware of the justice and economic equality enshrined in the Constitution. He said, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by the year 2047 has made endeavour to build Vikshit Bharat. All including the youth force of the country should contribute to this endeavour.
After flagging off the padayatra, the youth affairs and sports department termed this day historic. He said, the Constitution has ensured the right to speech, food, education, shelter etc. At the same time it has entrusted all with certain responsibilities also. We have to inculcate the sense of these rights and responsibilities in the new generation. Youths of the country have to come forward to fulfil the dream of the Prime Minister for building a strong nation.
The padayatra after moving through different streets of the city ended at the Ujjayanta Palace premises. There floral tribute was given to the statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar by the finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy, youth affairs and sports minister Tinku Roy, director of ICA Bimbisar Bhattacharya, and state director of Nehru Yuva Kendra B.P. Shah. The finance minister also administered reading of the Preamble of the Constitution at the closing ceremony.
